Conference spokesman: Fatah members converging on Ramallah without obstacles
RAMALLAH, Fatah members invited to attend the movement's upcoming seventh congress are arriving in Ramallah without any serious obstacles, conference spokesman Mahmoud Abu al-Haija said on Thursday.
Fatah is scheduled to hold its conference in Ramallah on Tuesday. The last conference was held in Bethlehem in 2009. A total of 1300 members are expected to attend.
Abu al-Haija said the members are arriving from the Gaza Strip, where 350 members are supposed to be present at the conference, and from the Diaspora.
He said there are still some technical issues that are being taken care of to make sure all members reach Ramallah for the opening day in order to guarantee a quorum, which he said has already been reached.
