Marking His Majesty’s Visit, Dutch PM Hosts Working Lunch


Muscat: In a manifestation of delight over the Royal visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and to promote cooperation and partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, Dutch Prime Minister hosted a working lunch. The event was attended by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his spouse Queen M¡xima, at the Dutch government headquarters in The Hague.



According to Oman News Agency, His Majesty delivered a speech during the event, highlighting the deep-rooted connections and shared values between Oman and the Netherlands. He emphasized the shared seafaring history and the mutual commitment to open dialogue, peace, and global understanding, which form the basis of the dynamic strategic partnership between the two nations.



His Majesty expressed his delight in exploring new opportunities to deepen the relationship further, particularly in logistics, trade, and green manufacturing. He also acknowledged the Netherlands as a valued partner in innovation and education, noting the increasing number of Omani students in Dutch institutions and the potential for Dutch students in Oman.



Emphasizing the joint focus on energy transition, His Majesty highlighted the collaboration in green hydrogen and energy exchange corridors, reflecting a mutual commitment to sustainability. He appreciated Dutch insight, investment, and technology in pursuing a cleaner future together.



In his speech, Prime Minister Schoof expressed appreciation for His Majesty’s visit and stressed the importance of exploring new avenues of cooperation and economic partnerships. He highlighted the promising future sectors such as green hydrogen, water management, and sustainable logistics, which are becoming focal points in the partnership between Oman and the Netherlands.



Prime Minister Schoof also acknowledged Oman’s role as a voice of reason and dialogue in the region and the world, affirming the importance of open dialogue in building a better future. He called for continued efforts to benefit future generations, emphasizing the need for cooperation in an increasingly turbulent world.
