WAM ABU DHABI, 6th May 2013 (WAM)–The United Arab Emirates has condemned the terrorist explosion in a church in Arusha, northern Tanzania, that took place earlier today, killing two people and injuring a further 30 innocent people.

In a statement to WAM, the UAE Foreign Minister, H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that: “The UAE condemns strongly this act that has resulted in the deaths of a number of innocent people.” The UAE, he said, offered solidarity and support to Tanzania in responding to this “cowardly act.” The Foreign Minister went on to express the UAE’s rejection of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, stressing that the UAE utterly condemned any such acts that targeted places of worship and desecrated their sanctity.

Offering his condolences to the families of the victims and expressing his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured, Sheikh Abdullah concluded by saying that the occurrence of such criminal acts underlined the urgent need for all countries to stand together, in a steadfast manner, against terrorism, and to fight it tirelessly and in a determined manner, regardless of its source or motivation.
