RAMALLAH, The Palestinian Attorney-General Akram al-Khatib ordered today the penalty of arrest of at least one year and a fine of no less than 1,000 Jordanian dinars, to all those who evade coronavirus quarantine as required by the competent health authorities in their precautions against the spread of the novel pandemic.
With emergency state against coronavirus in Palestine entering today its third week, the Attorney General’s Office said in a communiqué today that it will “deal with determination and without hesitation” against merchants who practice monopoly of goods, or those who manipulate the prices announced by the official authorities.
In addition, the communiqué said all those who prove to have published misleading information without referring to the competent authorities will be prosecuted for disturbing civil order, in addition to those who spread rumors regarding the ongoing crisis.
So far today, a total of 47 cases of novel coronavirus in the West Bank have been confirmed by the Palestinian government.
The Palestinian security forces have already arrested a number of people complicit in the propagation of rumors regarding coronavirus in Palestine during the past two weeks.
