WAM ABU DHABI, April 17th, 2013 (WAM) — For now, the toll is three dead – including an eight-year-old child – and 140 injured, after two bombs went off close to the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The UAE has joined the international community in condemning this act of terror, said “Gulf News” in its editorial on Wednesday.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, denouncing the attack, said, “The UAE condemns such terrorism and criminal acts aimed at destabilising the security and stability of the United States, and urges all countries to stand united in the face of terrorism, to fight it and to eradicate it, in all of its aspects, whatever its source and motivation.” “It is important that the attack’s perpetrators are brought to justice. It is all the more heinous because of the cold-blooded manner in which the civilians were targeted at an international event that celebrates human achievement. Even in civil conflicts or wars of national liberation, where the death toll is often much higher, there are rules of engagement that try to protect civilians”, concluded the paper.
