Female Palestinian prisoner moved to hospital, says rights group

RAMALLAH, Dina Jaradat, a young Palestinian woman in Israeli detention who is suffering from hydrocephalus, was moved to a hospital today following a deterioration in her health condition as a result of Israel’s medical negligence of her condition, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said today.

PPS said Israeli occupation authorities moved Jaradat from Damon priosn, near Haifa, to the Rambam Medical Center, as her medical condition requires a periodic removal of the fluids accumulated in her brain.

The prisoner rights group said that the occupation authorities had not provided treatment to Jaradat during her 15-day interrogation last month in the Al-Jalama Interrogation Center, despite repeated requests for medical intervention.

Jaradat, a media student at Al-Quds Open University and resident of Jenin in the West Bank, was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces in a raid on her family’s home on August 7.

Of the nearly 4,500 Palestinian freedom fighters incarcerated by Israel, about 32 Palestinian women freedom fighters are held in the Israeli prison of Damon, according to prisoner rights groups.
