Foreign Minister informs Red Cross on Israel’s violations, demands protection Palestinians

RAMALLAH, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyadh Al-Maliki today briefed Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, about the violations and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces, and called for protection for Palestinians.

Al-Maliki sent a letter, through the mission of the State of Palestine in Geneva, to Maurer, about the continuous Israeli aggression against Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, and its targeting of unarmed Palestinian civilians and their properties.

In his letter, the Foreign Minister touched on the crimes and violations committed by Israel, including the systematic destruction, the deliberate targeting of civilians, including children and women, the bombing of residential and media buildings, and how the Gaza Strip has become an insecure place.

He called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to establish safe areas for Palestinians by raising protection flags for the International Committee on installations and declaring them areas forbidden to be targeted, under international conventions, especially the Geneva Conventions, in order to enhance the protection of Palestinian citizens and objects protected by international humanitarian law, and to shelter them against the dangers arising from the widespread and systematic Israeli bombardment.
