Fujairah Crown Prince supervises over the rescue operation of whale

Fujairah: The Fujairah Coast Guard today evening helped a whale that tried to come offshore in Al-Faqit area in Dibba Fujairah to return to the territorial waters. H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Fujairah Crown Prince closely monitored the rescue operation staged by the coast guards.

The whale was found by a number of fishermen who reported to the competent authorities at the Ministry of Environment and Water.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the efforts of authorities to preserve the environmental resources.

Sulaiman Khadaim, president of the fishermen association Dibba, said the whale was about 25 metres long and weighed five tonnes, noting that the incident was rare. He added that the rescue operation was tackled professionally by the competent authorities.
