Doha, October 04 (QNA) – Qatar’s grant allocated for the reconstruction of Gaza is about $224 million and will be used in various projects such as paving main streets and other projects related to infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, HE Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi, head of the national committee for the reconstruction of Gaza, said Thursday.
A further sum of $30 million will be used in the establishment of Hamad residential city, taking the whole value to $254 million, Al Emadi said, adding that Qatar has adopted a separate project worth $15 million to build a prosthetics hospital.
Regarding the ways of selecting projects, Al Emadi said they were submitted by the government of Gaza based on the strip’s needs and priorities, noting that he hopes the projects sponsored by Qatar will serve their purposes in helping the Gaza Strip and its people, provide the means to facilitate their movement through road reconstruction projects, as well as shelter the needy families in the new residential units.
Speaking on the proposed prosthetics hospital, Al Emadi said that it was adopted by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani after Qatar took care of several patients who needed artificial limbs in the aftermath of the war on Gaza. With these cases requiring ongoing attention, Al Emadi explained, it was decided that the hospital would be established. (QNA)
