GCC Bowling Tournament in Doha Opens

Doha, October 13 (QNA) – The opening ceremony of the 11th GCC Bowling Tournament for men took place here Saturday at the Qatar Bowling Center, the matches will begin starting tomorrow Sunday.
Five countries are participating in this year’s edition; they are Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE.
President of the Qatar Bowling Federation Abdulsalam Abbas attended the opening ceremony alongside the heads of the participating delegations. Abdulsalam gave a speech in the ceremony, as did other heads of delegations.
In his speech, the QBF President welcomed the participating teams to Qatar, wishing them a pleasant stay. He expressed his hope that the tournament will reflect the high standards the sport has reached in the region.
The Qatari team will be one of the front-runners for winning the championship after its performance in the Arab Bowling Championship in Egypt, where Qatar won seven medals.
Head of the Qatari delegation in the tournament Ahmed Shaheen stressed that the Qatari team will look to continue its string of strong performances. He said that despite the strong competition, the team is targeting winning the tournament.
