Government confirms attack by Jewish settlers at prime minister’s convoy

RAMALLAH, Thursday, The Palestinian government confirmed on Thursday reports that Jewish settlers had attacked with stones the convoy of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah while he was on his way back from attending Midnight Mass in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve and injured two of his companions.

Government spokesman Yousef al-Mahmoud said the attack took place at around two in the morning near Zaatara checkpoint in the north of the West Bank at the same location where settlers had thrown stones at a Palestinian car in October killing Aisha Rabi, a mother of eight, while she was on her way home with her family.

Israeli reports said the settlers who attacked the prime minister’s convoy were the same ones who killed Rabi.
