WAM Abu Dhabi, Feb 20th, 2013 (WAM) — Pedro Morenes, Spanish Defence Minister said that International Defence Exhibition and Conference IDEX 2013, has given an opportunity to strengthen presence in the Gulf particularly the UAE market.
“Spain participation in the exhibition reflects the distinguished friendly relations with the United Arab Emirates and keenness of the two countries to consolidate and develop these ties in various political, economic and defense fields,” he stated.
He added that his meetings with His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, reflect the keenness to develop bilateral relations between the UAE and Spain and to establish new partnerships, expressing the hope to establish joint ventures in the industrial and defense fields to serve the interests of both countries.
The Spanish defense minister said that he discussed with senior officials in the state a number of issues of common interest and prospects for cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing these relations, particularly with regard to defence affairs on the sidelines of the exhibition.
He also affirmed his country’s keenness to further boost bilateral partnerships in the field of military industry, which is of great importance to the Spanish government, hailing Abu Dhabi’s Government plans to build a strong defense industry.
He also commended IDEX, which has become one of the most important defense exhibitions in the world focusing on security and defense fields.
