Israeli forces deliver notice ordering demolition of retaining walls south of Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Israeli authorities ordered the demolition of retaining walls surrounding Palestinian-owned land in the town of al-Khader to the south of Bethlehem, according to local activist Ahmad Salah.

The activist told WAFA that Israeli forces delivered a notice ordering the demolition of retaining walls surrounding land owned by a local resident in the town of al-Khader, citing unpermitted construction as a pretext.

The notice also ordered the owner to return the land to the way it was before reclamation.

Like other areas located within Area C, under full Israeli jurisdiction, the issuance of construction permits for Palestinians is strictly limited, forcing Palestinians residing in such areas to embark on construction without obtaining a permit.

Israel’s planning and building policy in the West Bank is aimed at preventing Palestinian development and dispossessing Palestinians of their land, said the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories, B’Tselem.
