Israeli forces gun down two Palestinians, injure another in Jenin

JENIN, Israeli forces Tuesday overnight gunned down two Palestinians and injured another in the northern West Bank refugee camp of Jenin, according to security sources.

They confirmed that Israeli special forces driving Palestinian-registered vehicles sneaked their way into the refugee camp to conduct a detention operation.

The special forces barged their way into several houses, occupied their roofs and opened fire at local youths protesting the raid.

As they proceeded with the raid, the heavily-armed undercover officers killed 22-year-old former prisoner Abdullah al-Husari and critically injured two others by live bullets in the abdomen and head.

One of the two casualties, identified as 18-year-old Shadi Najim, succumbed to his critical wounds in the head.

While in the camp, the undercover officer showed up at the house of a former prisoner and re-arrested him.

During the ensuing confrontations, the undercover forces fired live ammunition to disperse scores of local youths hurling stones and Molotov cocktails. No further injuries were reported though.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
