Israeli police attack solidarity sit-in demanding Israel to release bodies of slain Palestinians

Israeli police this evening attacked a solidarity sit-in calling for the release of the bodies of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli forces.

Israeli police reportedly deployed its troops throughout the town of Beit Ijza, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, and attacked residents’ homes and  participants of the sit-in with rubber-coated steel bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas canisters.

The participants of the sit-in responded by throwing rocks toward the Israeli police.

The sit-in demanded the Israeli authorities to hand over the bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces.

Withholding bodies of dead Palestinians and not return them to their families for proper burial is a cruel practice and a violation of international humanitarian law and United Nations Convention against Torture, said the Haifa-based Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel.
