JERUSALEM, Israeli police barred on Wednesday Palestinian teachers from holding a commemoration event for a deceased teacher in East Jerusalem, according to WAFA correspondent.
He said police cordoned off the area where the event was planned to be held and forced invitees to leave it.
A teachers committee planned to commemorate one of the founders of schools in East Jerusalem, Husni al-Ashhab, on the 20th anniversary for his death.
However, the Israeli police issued an order signed by the Internal Security minister banning the event.
Israel regularly bars Palestinians from holding events in their occupied city under the pretext they are organized by the Palestinian Authority.
