Israeli repression units raid a section of Palestinian detainees in Gilboa

RAMALLAH, Israeli repression units last night raided section 1 in the Israeli prison of Gilboa, in the Galilee region, where Palestinian political detainees are incarcerated, and brutally assaulted and clashed with them, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

The PPS said in a statement that Israeli repression forces attacked the rooms of the Palestinian prisoners in the section and conducted massive search. In addition, electricity and water supply were cut off during the attack, which lasted for several hours.

Tensions in the prison have remained high since a dramatic breakout last month in which six Palestinian freedom fighters tunneled out of Gilboa Prison. The six have been recaptured.

The Israeli occupation authorities are incarcerating more than 4,500 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting the Israeli occupation of their homeland.

In recent years, Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention have launched multiple strikes to demand better imprisonment conditions, including an end to the unjustified Israeli policy of raiding prisoners’ sections.
