HEBRON, Thursday, July 28, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers today seized a Palestinian house in the Old City of Hebron, according to a local official.
Imad Hamdan, a member of the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC), said that a group of settlers, under military protection, took over the house of Abdul-Karim Ijreiwi, located in the Qaytoun Quarter, after using metal ladders fastened to the external walls of the house to gain access to it.
He added that the soldiers briefly held Hassan Salamin, a field researchers with HRC, while the latter was documenting the home takeover.
The city of Hebron, which houses the Ibrahimi Mosque, is home to roughly 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and about 800 notoriously aggressive Israeli settlers who live in compounds heavily guarded by Israeli troops.
Israel has expelled the only international monitors protecting Hebron’s Palestinians from 800 heavily guarded settlers, one of whom committed the 1994 massacre that triggered their deployment.
