GAZA, Hundreds of refugees and representatives of factions participated today in a mass event to demand the participants in the International Ministerial Conference in Support of UNRWA to provide unconditional funding to the UN agency.
The event was organized by the Follow-up Committee of the National and Islamic Forces and the Joint Refugee Committee in front of the UNRWA headquarters in western Gaza City.
During the event, Participants demanded sustainable funding for the agency and expressed rejection of reducing the services provided to the refugee community.
In a speech during the rally, member of the Political Bureau of the People’s Party, Walid Al-Awad, said the international community and donor countries are responsible for caring and providing the necessary economic, social, and human rights for refugees.
He called on the donor countries meeting in Brussels to provide sustainable funding for the UNRWA so that it can provide services for refugees.
Al-Awad also called on donor countries to fulfill their obligations towards the rights of Palestinian refugees, expressing rejection of any cutbacks in UNRWA services at the expense of refugees or UNRWA employees.
