Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs gravely concerned over settlers’ storming of al-Aqsa mosque through Lions Gate

RAMALLAH, The Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs today stressed that it views with grave concern allowing the Israeli settlers – for the first time since 1967 – to break into the al-Aqsa mosque compound through the Lions Gate, which is solely used by Muslims.

The ministry in a statement said that the Israeli occupation persists in its dangerous attempts to change the religious, historical, and legal status quo of the mosque.

It affirmed that the Israeli authorities must stop all incursions into al-Aqsa mosque because of its direct provocations of the feelings of all Muslims around the world, which it stressed proves beyond doubt its persistent attempts to alter the existing historical and legal status of al-Aqsa mosque.

It called on the Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to uphold their responsibilities and stop the Israeli violations which are becoming more dangerous at al-Aqsa mosque and portend dire consequences.
