Mohammed Bin Zayed receives Argentine President

ABU DHABI: His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has received the visiting President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who is on a current visit to take part in the inaugural Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, hosted by Abu Dhabi’s Masdar between 13-17 January, and to attend the opening of the sixth World Future Energy Summit tomorrow.

Welcoming President Kirchner, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed expressed hopes that her visit would contribute to expanding venues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. He expressed appreciation of her active participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as a keynote speaker, and in the first Energy Meeting of the Arab League and South American Energy Ministers which will reflect positively on the growing renewable energy relations between the UAE and Argentina.

Reviewing the UAE’s vision and renewable and clean energy projects, His Highness the Crown Prince emphasized the interest of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on activating policies on sustainable development and the prioritization of environment in development projects.

For her part, President Kirchner expressed pleasure at visiting the UAE and at meeting His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. She emphasized her country’s interest in promoting bilateral relations with the UAE in service of the realization of the ambitions of both countries and their peoples.

She expressed appreciation of the UAE’s efforts in the sphere of renewable energy worldwide, its leading position in investments as well as its contribution to promoting the concepts of renewable energy use.

President Kirchner also expressed admiration at the progress and prosperity achieved by the UAE in all spheres, and in environment, industry, science, urban development and infrastructure, in particular.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in economic investments, energy technology, and exchanged views on regional and international developments and matters of common concern.
