Doha, November 12 (QNA) – Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has celebrated the Human Rights Day and ten years of achievements in presence of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al-Sada.
Addressing a reception held to mark the occasion, HE the NHRC Chairman Dr. Ali bin Smaikh al-Merri said that promoting the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms has become one of the prevailing constants in the world today thanks to the human rights movement.
Dr. al-Merri underlined that the progress and development reached by the State of Qatar was the result of respect for human rights which created a spirit of belonging and generates feelings of love and tender inside the hearts of individuals toward their state and their leadership, and though contributed to building a strong bridge of confidence between the people and their government.
He reviewed the most important achievements made by the Committee during the past ten, especially the dozens of human rights reports related to the right of health, housing or employment, or the rights of workers, with a focus on social phenomenon like rising rents, and submit proposals to resolve them and sent them the competent authorities.
