RAMALLAH, News about the two young Palestinians who were shot and killed by Israeli army gunfire in occupied Jerusalem hit the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that a 19-year-old Palestinian, identified as Kareem Jamal Qawasmi, was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces early yesterday at Bab Hutta neighborhood in the old city of Jerusalem, and 16-year-old Yamen Jaffal, was shot dead at night in the town of Abu Dis, southeast of Jerusalem.
Israeli violations and escalation against Palestinians in the occupied territories were highlighted on the front page of the three dailies.
The Israel occupation’s navy opened fire at Palestinian fishermen as they were sailing off the coast of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, forcing them to return to shore, as reported in al-Quds.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that nearly 450 Palestinian administrative detainees in Israel have been refusing to show up for their military court hearings for 65 days in protest of their unfair detention without charge or trial under Israel’s illegal administrative detention policy.
According to al-Ayyam, Israeli extremists attacked a church in the Old City of Jerusalem and caused damages to the property.
The paper said that the Israeli forcdes detained a number of Palestinian children and terrorized two of them in the Jerusalem neighoborhood of Isawiyya.
Israeli police handed a Palestinian resident in Shaikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem a notice ordering him to get rid of his dog under the pretext that there is no fence surrounding the dog’s place, as reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida.
The dailies reported that Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said that 575 new cases of COVID-19, four deaths and 1,659 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Foreign Ministry sent its condolences to the Indian government of its ambassador to Palestine who was found dead in his office in Ramallah.
The war in Ukraine was also covered extensively on the front page of al-Ayyam and al-Quds dailies.
