JENIN, Israeli occupation forces last night captured Ayham Kamamji and Munadel Nufei’at, the last Palestinian freedom fighters to remain at large following the September 6 jailbreak by six Palestinian political prisoners from the heavily guarded Israeli prison of Gilboa. The two were captured during a predawn military raid of Jenin, north of the occupied West Bank.

Witnesses told WAFA that a large-scale Israeli army force accompanied by undercover units raided the eastern neighborhood in Jenin, cordoned off a house and asked its residents with loudspeakers to turn themselves over to the army. A few minutes later, Kamamji and Nufei’at, who were reportedly hiding in the house for some time, were announced recaptured.

Clashes erupted in the neighborhood following the Israeli raid and the reports on the recapture of the two freedom fighters. The Israeli soldiers fired live bullets at the protesters, injuring at least two of them. The two were hospitalized.

The Israeli occupation forces also detained two local Palestinian residents during the raid, including a man with physical disability.

Last week, the Israeli occupation forces captured four out of the six Palestinian freedom fighters who escaped Gilboa Prison, about four and five days respectively following the jailbreak.

Two of the freedom fighters, Mohammad Ardah and Zakaria Zubeidi, were recaptured on September 11 while hiding near the village of Shibli, east of Nazsreth city, hours after Mahmoud Arda and Yaaqob Qadri were recaptured at Mount Precipice in Nazareth. Ayham Kamamji and Munadel Nudeiat remained at large until their recapture last night.

The six freedom fighters broke out of the maximum-security Israeli prison by digging a tunnel under a sink in their cell, using spoons, plates and even the handle of a kettle.
