On occasion of Women’s Day, President Abbas affirms commitment to granting women full rights

RAMALLAH, President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed today the leadership’s commitment to granting women their full rights in all fields and enabling them to obtain opportunities.

In his speech on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8, President Abbas said he is committed to enhancing women’s participation in all aspects, including education, health, law, economy, politics, as well as participation in decision-making.

He called on everyone – each in his field – to do more work to empower women and enhance their role and participation in all fields.

The President also paid tribute and appreciation to the great Palestinian woman and to all the women of the globe on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

“Whoever said that you are half of society, did not do you justice. Without you, the society will not be a good and healthy one.”

In Palestine, he said, the Palestinian woman rises and improves with her steadfastness, struggle, and patience.

He stressed that there are no Palestinian families or women that haven’t won the battle through their defiance, steadfastness, belief in our cause, and their love for the homeland, in the face of arbitrary colonialism.
