Palestine logs 277 COVID cases, seven deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 277 new cases of COVID-19, seven deaths and 471 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said five deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another two deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 3,656 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 192 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 85 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 99 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 56 are in intensive care, including 13 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98 percent, while active cases declined to one percent.

Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 1,351,000 people have been fully vaccinated across Palestine, including 996,000 in the West Bank and 354,000 in Gaza.
