Palestine logs 287 COVID cases, one death

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 287 new cases of COVID-19, one death and 245 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said one death from COVID-19 was registered in Gaza, while no deaths were registered in the West Bank.

A total of 5,035 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 95 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 192 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 83 patients of COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, of whom 49 are in intensive care, including six on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98.3 percent, while active cases declined to 0.07 percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 1,450,600 people have been fully vaccinated across Palestine, including 1,041,500 in the West Bank and 409,000 in Gaza.
