Palestine logs 460 COVID cases, six deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 459 new cases of COVID-19, six deaths and 1,173 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said four deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another two deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 5,149 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 334 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 125 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 103 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 61 are in intensive care, including 10 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 96.7 percent, while active cases declined to 2.3 percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 1,263,210 people have been fully vaccinated across Palestine, including 937,240 in the West Bank and 325,970 in Gaza.
