Palestine logs 580 COVID cases, 11 deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 580 new cases of COVID-19, 11 deaths and 1,540 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last day.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said seven deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another four deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 4,680 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 407 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 173 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 134 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 64 are in intensive care, including 11 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 96 percent, while active cases declined to three percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 2,369,000 doses have been administered across Palestine, including around 1.7 million in the West Bank and 657,000 in Gaza.
