Palestine records 216 new Covid-19 cases, two deaths

RAMALLAH, Palestine today recorded 216 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 216 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and two others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 216 cases, 17 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 199 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as from the Gaza Strip.

She added that 387 COVID-19 patients recovered; 33 recovery cases in the West Bank and 354 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 13 COVID-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including two who are connected to ventilators, while 19 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 97.8 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020 and the active cases for 1.1 percent. The death toll stood at 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 426,897 people have received the vaccine so far in the West Bank and Gaza, including 258,853 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
