Palestine records 550 COVID cases, nine deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 550 new cases of COVID-19, nine deaths and 1,984 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24-hour reporting period.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said five deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another four deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 5,046 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 327 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 223 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 169 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 76 are in intensive care, including 14 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 94.9 percent, while active cases declined to 4.1 percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said 1,176,000 people have been fully vaccinated, of whom 2,779 received a third dose.
