RAMALLAH, Palestine today recorded 651 new Covid-19 cases and nine deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 651 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and nine others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 651 cases, 212 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 439 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Nablus district was ranked the first with (50) cases, followed by Hebron (44) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (32) cases, Jenin (27) cases, Tulkarm (22) cases, Bethlehem (16) cases, Tubas (10) cases, Qalqiliya (7) cases, Salfit (2) cases and Jerusalem suburbs (2) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as six deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and three others from the besieged Gaza Strip.
The West Bank deaths were distributed as follows: 3 deaths in Nablus district, another in Tulkarm, another in Ramallah & al-Bireh and another in Hebron.
She added that 1,931 Covid-19 patients recovered; 478 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 1,453 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 133 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 39 who are connected to ventilators, while 326 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.
Recoveries account for 94.2 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 4.8 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.0 percent.
Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 263,475 people have received the vaccine so far, including 193,127 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
