Palestine registers 237 COVID cases, five deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 237 new cases of COVID-19, five deaths and 372 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said three deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another two deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 3,978 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 127 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 110 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 95 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 55 are in intensive care, including 12 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 97.8 percent, while active cases declined to 1.2 percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 1,308,000 people have been fully vaccinated across Palestine, including 963,000 in the West Bank and 338,700 in Gaza.
