Palestinian detained after an alleged hit-and-run incident northwest of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, Israeli soldiers this evening detained a Palestinian after an alleged hit-and-run incident near the illegal Halamish settlement northwest of Ramallah, according to sources.

They said the soldiers detained the Palestinian, said to be 30 years of age from a Ramallah-area village, after he ran over an Israeli near the settlement lightly injuring him.

The Palestinian was later caught at a nearby checkpoint, said reports.

The family of the Palestinian said their son has psychological and health issues and that he is getting treatment for that. He was previously involved in car accidents as a result of his health situation.

Following this incident, the army sealed off several area villages and erected checkpoints along the roads obstructing movement of people in and out of the villages.
