Palestinian homeowner receives Israeli demolition order, one of 32 houses slated for demolition in his village

A Palestinian homeowner in the village of Marda, north of the northern West Bank city of Salfit, today received an Israeli demolition order, one of 32 homes slated for demolition in the village, according to the head of Marda village council Nisfat Khuffash.

He told WAFA that an army force broke into the village and handed a local resident the demolition order against his 150-square-meter, one-story house where his family of three people lives, under the pretext of construction without a permit.

Khuffash said 32 other households in Marda received demolition or stop construction orders last year under the pretext of building without a permit and have appealed the orders at Israeli courts hoping to stop them.

Israel does not allow Palestinian development in what is referred to as Area C of the occupied West Bank, which is under full Israeli military rule and makes up more than 60 percent of the area of the West Bank. It reserves this area for Jewish development with the hope of eventually annexing it, a move strongly opposed by the Palestinians and the international community because it ends any chance of reaching a two-state peace solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
