Palestinian sustains critical wounds from Israeli army gunfire in Jerusalem camp

JERUSALEM, A Palestinian youth Wednesday afternoon sustained critical wounds from Israeli army gunfire in Shufat refugee camp, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of East Jerusalem, according to the Health Ministry.

The Ministry announced that Mohammad Ali, 17, was left in critical condition after being shot by Israeli army in the chest with a live round in the course of confrontations with Israeli forces that raided the camp.

A video footage that went viral on social media shows the heavily-armed soldiers assaulting the critically wounded youth afterwards, tearing his clothes and inspecting him, before being transferred to a local medical center.

The gun-toting soldiers later stormed the medical center, located in the suburb of Al-Salam neighborhood, and assaulted paramedics as an ambulance rushed the youth to a hospital.

The confrontations erupted after a sizable army force barged its way into the neighboring town of Anata and punitively demolished the family house of Udai Tamimi.

Tamimi, 22, was killed by Israeli gunfire on October 19 near the illegal colonial settlement of Maale Adumim, east of Jerusalem, 11 days after he killed a soldier in a shooting attack at the Shuafat military checkpoint.
