President Abbas chairs meeting of PLO Executive Committee

RAMALLAH, President Mahmoud Abbas chaired this evening a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

During the meeting, the President briefed the PLO Executive Committee members on the results of the meetings he held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The President underscored the importance of the Algiers Arab Summit, to be held in Algeria next month, and the implementation of the previous resolutions of the Arab Summits, especially with regard to providing support to the Palestinian people living under Israeli occupation to enhance the steadfastness.

The PLO Executive Committee stressed the importance of developing the mechanisms needed to implement what President Abbas stated in his speech last month before the UN General Assembly, in light of the escalation of Israeli aggression against our people.

The Committee also confirmed that it will move forward with the implementation of the resolutions of the PLO Central and National Councils concerning the relationship with Israel in light of the escalation of the latter’s aggression and daily crimes against our people.

The Committee pledged to provide all possible support to ensure the success of the intra-Palestinian dialogue in Algeria on October 11-12 in order to end the division and restore Palestinian national unity.
