RAMALLAH, Friday, July 8, 2022 (WAFA) – President Abbas today expressed his condolences over the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
President Abbas send his condolences to Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the bereaved family as well as to the Japanese people over the death of Abe, who had been shot while delivering an election campaign speech in the city of Nara today.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh offered his sincere condolences to the Japanese government and people over Abe’s death.
He said that over the course of his terms as premier, Abe offered much to his nation, defended the international law and human rights and proved a friend to Palestine, believing in the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and the establishment of an independent state in line with UN resolutions.
Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, died at the age of 67 succumbing to his wounds. Police say a 41-year-old man suspected of the shooting was arrested.
