President Abbas receives delegation of civil society and human rights organizations

RAMALLAH, President Mahmoud Abbas received today evening, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, a delegation of civil society and human rights organizations.

The president stressed during the meeting that “we are partners in defending the rights of our Palestinian people in the face of the occupation and its plans aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.”

The President also stressed the importance of internal unity in meeting the challenges facing the Palestinian people and their cause, and the importance of strengthening the internal front.

He stressed the importance of freedom of opinion within the framework of relevant laws, reiterating what was stated in Presidential Decree No. 5 of 2021 regarding the promotion of public freedoms.

The president briefed the delegation on the latest developments, whether with regard to the political situation or internal affairs.

Regarding the reconciliation file, the president stressed the importance of creating democratic climates and in-depth dialogues, reiterating the firm position that forming a national unity government requires adherence to the resolutions of international legitimacy.

He stressed readiness to hold general elections, primarily in the city of Jerusalem, and that “we will not allow any attempts to circumvent the Palestinian right to sovereignty over Jerusalem.”
