President Abbas welcomes President Biden’s visit to Palestine

President Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the State of Palestine, welcomed the announced visit by U.S. President Joe Biden to Palestine which has been scheduled for July.

President Abbas said that Palestine looks forward that this visit which represents an important development for the strengthening of bilateral relations between both nations, contributing to building a political horizon in order to achieve a just and lasting peace based on international law; on the basis of the two-state solution on the 1967 borders, fully ending the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine, including its capital East Jerusalem.

President Abbas expressed his hope that this visit will turn the belief expressed by President Biden and his administration regarding the two-state solution into concrete measures to stop settlement expansion and the forcible displacement of Palestinians from Occupied Jerusalem, as well as to preserve the historical status of Al Aqsa Mosque Compound/Haram Alsharif, stopping unilateral actions, and reopening the US Consulate in East Jerusalem.
