President orders planting of 41, 000 date palm seedlings at schools and mosques

WAM Abu Dhabi, Dec 02nd, 2012 (WAM)– President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the donation of 41,000 date palm seedlings to the Ministry of Education, General Authority of Islamic Affairs ‘&’ Endowments and Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to plant them at schools and mosques nationwide.

The move aims to consolidate the Union values in the hearts of the UAE nationals so as to sustain prosperity and dedication to the country.

This was announced by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education ‘&’ Scientific Research, Chancellor of UAEU, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa International Date Palm Award.

He hailed the care of the UAE President to enhance the initiative launched by the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to plant the ” Union Tree ” as an expression of the Union spirit to bring together the national feelings, sentiments and attitudes with symbolic work that reflects loyalty and love to the homeland.

Nahyan said that the gift comprised 41, 000 date palm seedlings of the best quality, noting that the donation coincides with the dear occasion being celebrated by Emiratis, the 41st National Day of founding the UAE .

He praised the efforts of the wise leadership and the support of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan , Crown Prince of Abdu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and follow up by H. H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, for their continuous efforts to sustain the blessed tree.

It is worth mentioning that the 41000 date palm seedlings were produced by the laboratories of the Date Palm Development Research Unit of the UAEU.
