President, VP and Mohamed bin Zayed greet Nawaz Sharif on winning elections

WAM Islam Abad, May 17th, 2013 (WAM)–UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Eisa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi has conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to the President of Pakistan Muslim League-N party Nawaz Sharif, on winning the parliamentary elections.

Nawaz, who received the UAE envoy at his residence in Lahore, thanked the UAE leaders and praised the keenness of the UAE on strengthening the bilateral relations with Pakistan, as well as the UAE’s continuous supportive stance to Pakistani people.

He noted that he would focus on developing the economic cooperation through encouragement of investments and motivation of businesspersons in both countries to play greater role in this respect.

Al Nuaimi referred to greater role of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in establishing cordial ties between the two peoples, a legacy followed by the UAE President and the Vice President to further strengthen the relations between the UAE and Pakistan.

The UAE envy said the UAE is one of the biggest investors, referring to the UAE companies operating in the fields of development and infrastructure projects in Pakistan, such as oil refinery, telecommunications, banking, real estates, aviation, agriculture, food industry, mining, health, social care and others.

He added that there were huge untapped investment opportunities in both countries, noting that the UAE held the first investment promotion conference on Pakistan in Dubai in March 2010 and the trade and investment fair organised by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade in Karachi in Dec. 2011.

The UAE ambassador said the UAE Assistance Programme for Pakistan has implemented a number of projects in the northern western areas in Pakistan. He added that the programme has also implemented the infrastructure, education, health and water projects in the areas affected by the floods.
