Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the escalation in the occupied territories due to its aggression, violations, and daily crimes against the Palestinian people in Jenin refugee camp and occupied East Jerusalem, as well as in all cities, towns, villages, and camps attacked by soldiers and settlers alike.

Speaking at the opening session of the weekly cabinet meeting held in Ramallah, Shtayyeh called on the international community to condemn these crimes as well as statements by ministers in the Israeli government in which they called on the Israeli public to take up arms in order to commit crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people.

He said that the world should deal with those racist statements as an assault on humanity and all civilized values.

Shtayyeh stressed that his government takes seriously the decisions of the Israeli inner cabinet aimed at the Palestinian people, especially those in East Jerusalem, considering them a violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions, and reflecting the depth of the crisis that the occupation government is experiencing, which it is trying to deflect attention from through the killings, repression, collective punishments, home demolitions and giving the terrorist settlers a free hand to commit more crimes against the Palestinians.

The Prime Minister warned of the dangerous consequences of the occupation authority’s plan to demolish and displace the residents of the village of al-Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, stressing that the Palestinian people will not allow this to happen and will stand against it until it is defeated.

He demanded a clear and firm position from the world to prevent the demolition of al-Khan al-Ahmar and to take the necessary measures to ensure that this racist expansionist project is not implemented, stressing that what is required is to stop all unilateral measures practiced by Israel that violate the signed agreements, international legitimacy and international law.
