Doha, October 16 (QNA) – The State of Qatar will celebrate Qatar Population Day, which falls on October 20 every year, to shed light on population issues as part of the comprehensive development plans and programmes, especially ‘Qatar National Vision 2030’ and ‘Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
This celebration comes in implementation of cabinet decision issued at its regular meeting on October 6, 2010 approving the marking of Qatar Population Day on the twentieth of October every year (the date of the start of the population policy of the State of Qatar in 2009).
In this context, the Population Standing Committee will organize after tomorrow a celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in the presence of Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Development Planning Dr. Salih bin Mohamed Al-Nabit and representatives of ministries and national institutions involved in the implementation of the population policy of the state, in addition to a representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
For the embodiment of the joint work among GCC states, a delegation from the council of the demographics of the United Arab Emirates will attend the celebration
The event’s activities will feature sessions of discussion about the impact of future developmental challenges f on the future of population of the state, especially the labor market. The General Secretariat for Development Planning will discuss the role of institutional plans adopted for shaping the future of the country based on Qatar National Vision 2030, Qatar National Development Strategy 2011 to 2016 and the population policy.(QNA)
