Doha, October 17 (QNA) -The College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Qatar University (QU) on Wednesday hosted Lord Michael Hastings, KPMG s Global Head of Corporate Citizenship being the guest of the October 2012 executive-in-residence program.
KPMG International is a global network of professional firms providing audit, advisory and tax services and one of the “big four” firms in the industry.
On his Visit, Lord Michael had a briefing tour around the college, where he was introduced to the state s firms, companies, sectors and their internship opportunities for students.
Lord Michael met with a number of CBE alumni and faculty staff and gave a lecture on Social responsibility and the role of firms providing audits within a global society.
He then met with the students majoring in accounting and spoke to them on the role of accounting profession amid financial crises.
Later in the day, Lord Michael met with the President of QU, Dr. Sheikha Abdullah Al-Misnad who expressed appreciation to all the state s efforts in bolstering the University s ties with the business sector.
The dean of CBE, Professor Nitham Hindi also attended the meeting.
He said Lord Michael s visit to CBE was a great opportunity to give the students a closer look on the role of global firms and their social responsibility.
Lord Michael, meanwhile, said he was impressed with the CBE s executive-in-residence program that provides an interactive platform for students and alumni alike to communicate with business top leaders and broaden their knowledge capacities.
The CBE each month selects, under the executive-in-residence program, an executive from the government, public and private sectors to conduct lectures and workshops to CBE students.
