Slight increase in construction cost index in August, says PCBS

RAMALLAH, The construction cost index (CCI) for residential buildings in the West Bank witnessed a slight increase by 0.09% during August 2022 compared with July 2022, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said in a statement today.

PCBS said at the level of major groups, the price of labour costs and wages increased by 1.52%, while the prices of raw materials decreased by 0.53%. The prices of rental of equipment also decreased by 0.39% during the same period compared with July.

CCI for non-residential buildings in the West Bank also slightly increased by 0.10% during August 2022 compared with July 2022.

CCI for skeleton buildings in the West Bank decreased by 0.42% during August 2022 compared with July 2022.

At the level of major groups, the price of raw materials decreased by 1.08%, and the price of rental of equipment decreased by 0.37%, while the prices of labour costs and wages increased by 1.09% during August 2022 compared with the previous month.

Decrease in the Road Cost Index (RCI)

The overall Road Cost Index (RCI) in the West Bank decreased by 0.33% during August 2022 compared with July 2022, PCBS said.

At the level of major groups, the price of operating costs of equipment and maintenance and the price of raw materials decreased by 1.52% for both groups. Meanwhile, the price of labour costs and wages increased by 2.51%, and the prices of rental of equipment increased by 1.76% during August 2022 compared with the previous month.

Stability in the Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI)

The overall Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) remained stable in the West Bank during August 2022.

Increase in the Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI)

The overall Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) in the West Bank witnessed an increase by 0.84% during August 2022 compared with July 2022.
