Three Palestinians, including two women, injured in a settler attack near Hebron

HEBRON, A Palestinian citizen, his wife and another woman were injured today in an attack by Israeli settlers on al-Tha’ala community, east of Yatta town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources.

Fouad Al-Amour, the Coordinator of the Protection and Resilience Committees, a local body in charge of monitoring Israeli settlement activities in the area, told WAFA that a number of settlers attacked the community, and assaulted the residents.

Youssef Awad, one of the residents attacked, said that the settlers assaulted him, his wife and another woman of his relatives by beating them with sticks, as a result of which they were bruised.

He explained that two settlers were grazing their sheep near the homes of citizens in al-Tha’ala community, and then, accompanied by more than 20 other settlers, assaulted the residents in their homes.

Awad pointed out that the settlers’ attacks on citizens east of Yatta occur almost on daily basis and in an organized manner, aiming to force them to leave their lands, in favor of settlements.

Settler violence and vandalism in the occupied territories is almost a daily occurrence, and attacks by settlers are rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

Over 500,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
