Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained at least 12 Palestinians, including two minors, from various parts of the West Bank, according to security sources.

They said that Israeli police rounded up two minors, aged 13 and 15, after storming the houses of their families in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli soldiers barged their way into Sa‘ir town, northeast of Hebron, where they detained three Palestinians after ransacking the houses of their families.

They also detained two others from Hebron city.

In the central West Bank, the sources confirmed a similar military raid in Deir Ammar village, west of Ramallah, resulting in the detention of another.

Soldiers conducted a similar raid in Kobar village, north of the city, where they rounded up another.

In Salfit district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Deir Istiya town, north of the city, where the soldiers detained an engineer.

They also rounded up two brothers from Balata refugee camp near Nablus city.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
