The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that it has "nearly 200 schools in the Gaza Strip, all of which have been closed since last October 2023, and many of which were used as shelters for displaced persons throughout the war." The UN agency indicated in a post on its account on the "X" platform, that "in some of these schools, UNRWA teams are working to return thousands of children to learning through recreational activities and psychosocial support." Since 7 October 2023, the Israeli entity has been waging a devastating war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 135,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
