At his inauguration ceremony, Pezeshkian speaks about social justice, freedoms & deterrence capabilities

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to secure justice and freedom for the country’s citizens, as well as Iran’s possession of “deterrence capabilities” and strengthening its position in the Islamic world, in his first statements following his inauguration as President of Iran.

After Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei handed him the presidential decree to officially begin his duties as head of state, Pezeshkian said: ‘I pledge before the leader of the revolution that we will not follow a path other than the path of social justice and fairness and that we will continue the path of the martyrs who served this people.’

He added: “We want an Iran that enjoys social justice, grants freedoms to all citizens, and is capable and possesses deterrent and defensive capabilities,” as reported by “Russia Today.

Candidates for upcoming presidential elections to submit candidacy July 29 to August 6


Tunis, The Candidates for the Tunisian presidential election scheduled for October 6, 2024, will be able to submit their candidacy documents starting Monday, July 29.

The submission period will extend until August 6, according to a press release issued by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE).

Tunisian President Kais Saied has announced his candidacy for a second term, and dozens of politicians and public figures have also announced their intention to run in the presidential race, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported.

The law requires candidates to collect a form of recommendation form from the headquarters of the commission in person to collect recommendations from voters.

As of Friday, more than 80 people had applied to withdraw their nomination forms.

According to the electoral law, candidates for the presidency must collect at least 10,000 recommendations from voters across at least ten electoral districts. Alternatively, they can gather recommendations from 10 members of parliament, the
Council of Regions and Regions, or local, regional, or municipal councils. Meeting one of these criteria ensures candidates have sufficient support to qualify for the election.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali visits players at Paris Olympics Sports Village


Paris, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and head of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation to the 2024 Paris Olympics, visited the Sports Village and met with the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the Olympic Games.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali was received by Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, the Secretary General of the BOC; Ishaq Ibrahim Ishaq, the Board Member of the Olympic Committee and President of the Weightlifting Federation; Mohammed Mujbel, the President of the Bahrain Swimming Association; Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar, the Executive Director of the Committee, and Fajr Jassim, the Deputy Mission Director.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali met with the players, technical, and administrative staff, and conveyed the greetings of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of BOC.

Bahrain Parliamentary delegation affirms keenness to boost international cooperation


London, The Bahrain Parliamentary Division delegation participated in workshop sessions that were organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Centre for Legislative Studies of the University of Hull on July 27-28.

The delegation was led by Lina Habib Qasim, Member of the Shura Council, and Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, Member of the Council of Representatives.

During its participation in the “Sixteenth Workshop of Parliamentary Scholars and Parliamentarians” at Wroxton College, the United Kingdom, the delegation reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to consolidate international cooperation in all its forms, enhance the role of parliamentary diplomacy, and utilise artificial intelligence (AI) in parliamentary activities.

The delegation highlighted the importance of unifying efforts towards mutual coordination with different parliaments to achieve common global objectives and boost required expertise among members of parliaments.

The head of the delegation emphasised the significant role of enhancing intern
ational cooperation in legislative work which would contribute to building distinguished relations between parliaments based on mutual respect and joint action.

She also commended the efforts made by parliamentary and academic institutions in convening joint meetings aimed at sharing parliamentary experiences and discussing global issues to serve specialized research and studies in legislative matters.

Qatari State Minister of Foreign Affairs receives credentials of Bahraini Ambassador


Doha, Soltan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, received the credentials of Ambassador Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bahrain to Qatar.

Al Muraikhi expressed pride in the Bahraini-Qatari ties and cooperation, which witness continuous development and growth across various fields. He wished the ambassador success in performing his new diplomatic duties.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad’s Calif triumphs in Munich’s horse race


Munich, Stallion ‘Calif’, owned by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Affairs, and Team Victorious, won first place in Group 1 at the Grosser Dallmayr Preis horseracing event in Munich, Germany.

His Highness stated that Team Victorious’ victory in the Group 1 race on 28 July reinforces the team’s strong standing in European horse racing and underscores their successful trajectory.

He emphasised that the Munich horse race is one of the most prestigious events, marked by strong competition and wide participation.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad highlighted that Calif’s victory represents a continuation of Team Victorious’ ongoing successes in European racing, establishing them as a distinguished presence in international competitions.

His Highness praised jockey Adrie de Vries, who skilfully guided Calif to this remarkable victory.

Jockey Adrie de Vries and Calif dominated the race from the start despite strong competition,
ultimately finishing in first place and securing another triumph for Team Victorious and Bahrain Equestrian.

Kuwait launches new news channel


Kuwait, Kuwait’s Ministry of Information launched, Sunday, Al Akhbar (the News) Channel, a source for reliable news and accurate information.

Dr. Bader Al Enezi, the Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for news and political programmes at the Kuwaiti Information Ministry, told the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) that the channel sets out to engage actively with local, regional, and international affairs issues, in line with the State of Kuwait policies.

The News Channel, explained Dr. Al Enezi, is an official source for local news, including state decisions and its positions, as it also serves as a connection point between citizens and officials.

HM King of Jordan visits JAF General Command


Amman, His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, visited the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF).

During the visit, HM the King was briefed on the army’s latest training programmes and development plans, as well as plans to build its personnel capacities.

His Majesty expressed confidence in JAF’s capabilities to safeguard Jordan’s achievements and maintain its security, according to Jordan News Agency (Petra)

HM the King was also briefed on JAF’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza through airdrops and land convoys, in addition to the army’s efforts to provide healthcare in Gaza and the West Bank through field hospitals and medical centers.
